We’ve been (Carol and Unique Cottage Studios) very fortunate to have been offered exhibition space in an empty shop in the Crescent, just opposite the award winning bookshop ‘Bookmark’ (who just happen to serve the best coffee and cakes for miles…apart from Sergis the deli who can’t be beaten on bread pudding!)
The current exhibition is knit & crochet to advertise my beginners course at the studios. I’ve also yarnbombed a flurry of snowflakes to help with marketing – seemed silly not to!
Following our evaluation of the knitted Olympic track project, we identified an ongoing need for knit & crochet tuition to fill the void left by a generation of non passing down of skills. Carol had a great turnout for her first beginners knit & crochet session at Unique Cottage Studios, with a wonderful mix of age ranges and abilities; volunteer Lily joined us for work experience and volunteer Lynn encouraged new crochet beginners. Everyone went away being able to cast on and off, knit and purl and were inspired by extreme knitting and french knitting using a myriad of recycled material….and some even managed to learn the basics of crochet too! Several participants expressed a keen interest in ‘yarnboming’ so there may be some naughty action at some point! Next session on Sat 11 Feb, ring Jo at Unique to book yourself in (01775 766698)….why wait? Tea/coffee/juice and cake provided!
